Our Story
Frank’s primary school was right on the road side near Kilimanjaro National Park entrance gate. Since his childhood he has seen many tourist driving/walking and visiting his school while they were on their way to climb Mt.Kilimanjaro or sometimes on their way back from Kilimanjaro. He was very keen to one day to work on the tourism industry. He loved the enthusiasm of the tourists visited the schools around his village Marangu, showing love to children, petting them and give them some gifts (school supplies and candies hahaa… I was included of course!)
So when I finished my primary school I wanted to speak English so that I could be able guide them to the mountain. It was not easy because in my there were no many English speaking people neither a tutor, and yet I wanted to join high School to become more professional in Tourism fields. Also I didn’t have enough resources as my family was small scale farmers that could only afford for normal village living. So I decide to work on the mountain as porter and start saving for my further education. I was love by many tourists, they were real encouraging me to become a guide. That was the point of my interest, by that I time I could speak little English just to understand and me to understand the.
I can say I learnt my English through tourist. I then attended guiding tanning and get my first full route guiding license in 1995! By that time I had already save some money and joined Marangu Seconday where I attained my Advance level Certificate. I then worked with some big climbing companies in Moshi and Arusha and I could save some more money and join Universal College in Nairobi and then Utalii college where I did Air Fares and Ticketing by IATA and Tourism Business and Management Where I attained my Tourism Business Diploma. While studying I was still working as a Mountain climbing and Safari Tour guide as freelance and then get employment as Tour Operation Manager for about 5 years.
I then resigned and established my own tour company Kilele Savane Ltd in 2008. Since then my company has been growing nicely and I hope to fulfill my ambitions as per our Mission. I am very proud of myself to say that I have climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro 358 successfully time to the Top Mt, with a record of climbing one day in 13.30hrs!! Kilimanjaro without counting hundreds of times that I have been on the base camps while I was working as a porter, I can also say that my company has more than 85% successful rates of my clients who climbs Kilimanjaro with us. Please join me to accomplish my dream in this adventure! Karibu Sana (You are most welcome)
